Two Factor Authentication
Two Factor Authentication is an additional way of checking that it’s really you when you log in. It combines something you know (your user name and password) with something you have (an authentication app on your mobile). This second layer of security is designed to prevent anyone but you from accessing your account even if they know your password (eg if your password is compromised).
Once configured, you'll be required to enter both your password and approve the login from your mobile phone in order to sign into Elixir.
Setting up Two Factor Authentication
- Open your Profile then select Two Factor Auth from the left.
-
Click the link to enable Two-Factor Authentication
-
Enter your mobile phone number
-
If you do not already have Authy on your mobile you should receive a text message with instructions on how to install Authy. Ensure you verify your phone number in Authy to activate your account.
-
The next time you log into Elixir, you'll see this screen:
-
Check your mobile device for this notification. If it is you logging in, press the green Approve button. Your computer will then login.
Tip
Tick the Remember This Device box if you regularly use this device and want to skip the prompt on this computer. If you log into a new computer you will still get the prompt on the new device.
